No tenía pensado volver a escribir hoy, pero cierta visita con los austriacos al “POHL Recreational Center” que se encuentra al lado de mi residencia en la Universidad de North Texas me ha obligado a poner estas dos fotos.
Tal y como lo veis, esto es un centro deportivo INMENSO que se encuentra en el propio campus. Cientos de cintas para correr, máquinas de pesas, mancuernas, remo, peldaños… Por no hablar de que la segunda planta es un circuito para correr o de la gran piscina climatizada dividida en partes (olímpica, waterpolo y recreativa). O de las canchas de fútbol sala, baloncesto, hockey, pin-pon…
Y todo esto equipado con la última tecnología.
Así es: olvídate de perderte tu serie favorita por tener que ir a hacer deporte, ya que cada una de las máquinas disponibles en el edificio dispone de una pantalla de televisión desde la que se puede acceder a más de 30 canales de televisión distintos y escucharlos independientemente de los demás con los auriculares que tú prefieras.
He intentado tomar muchas más fotos del lugar, pero ha resultado imposible una vez me han comentado por parte de la dirección del centro que tienen prohibida la toma de fotografías en el interior del recinto… Una pena, porque la piscina climatizada era una vista impresionante.
Al menos he logrado encontrar alguna foto del edificio en años anteriores (como podéis ver, en esta foto desde el circuito para correr se ven menos máquinas que en las que he tomado esta tarde). ¿Alguien se apunta a hacer deporte?

I didn’t expect myself to update the blog again today, but a certain visit with the Austrian guys to the “POHL Recreational Center” next to my dorm at the University of North Texas made me think again about posting two new pictures here.
As you can see, this is a HUGE sports center inside the campus. Hundreds of running threads, weight-lifting machines, weight excercises, step-climbing… And let’s not start with the running field on the second floor or the function-divided heated swimming pool (olimpic, waterpolo and recreation). Or even the soccer, basketball, hockey or even table tennis fields.
And of course, all of this made with the latest technology.
Yes, that’s it: forget about missing your favorite TV show because of doing some sport, because every single machine in the building has its own television screen from which you can access more than 30 different TV stations and listen to them independently with your own headsets.
I’ve tried to take more pictures from the building, but the center’s security staff told me it was not allowed to take pictures of the place… It’s a pity because the swimming pool would have made a GREAT impressive view on the blog.
At least I managed to find a picture of the bulding in previous years (as you can see in this picture of the running track, there’s less machinery than in the ones I took this evening). Anyone’s up for some sport?
